A Suvidha Samagam was organised under the chairmanship of Rajendra Kumar, director general, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) at the ESIC headquarters.
Kumar patiently listened to the issues of the insured people, beneficiares, as well as representatives of the employers and employees — some of whom joined the meeting virtually. He also instructed ESIC officers to solve all the issues and grievances of the stakeholders on the spot. If, for some reason, the same was not practical, he said that the issues should be resolved within a week’s time.
The Suvidha Samagam meetings are to be held every month on the 27th and are aimed at giving an opportunity to create a relationship of trust between the ESIC and its subscribers and stakeholders.
These meetings are a result of a collaboration between ESIC and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s (EPFO’s) initiative, ‘Nidhi Apke Nikat’.
Starting 1 November, 2023, ESI Scheme will come into force in all the areas of the Nilgiris District. All the factories and establishments in the district with ten or more employees have been asked to register themselves under the scheme and provide coverage to the employees whose wages are up to Rs 21,000.
As per official data, August 2023 saw about 24,849 new establishments being registered and brought under the social security umbrella of ESIC.
