The internship drive saw the entire batch of 360 students getting placed, with the average stipend offer of Rs 65,000 per month.
An internship offer of Rs 2.5 lakh per month is quite unprecedented and unimaginable. But a summer intern from XLRI’s 2015–17 batch of 360 students has actually bagged this offer.
Out of the 95 companies that participated in this internship drive, 92 selected interns from amongst the 360 students. The entire batch got placed in a record two and a half days.
The average stipend offered to the batch was Rs.65,000 per month.
Companies, such as Accenture Strategy hired 13 interns, while Microsoft hired 12 followed by 11 interns by HUL and another 10 by Flipkart. ABG, Citibank, Snapdeal and Vodafone hired 9 interns each.
Fr. E Abraham S.J., director, XLRI said, “Summer internship provides the much needed industry exposure and first-hand training to our students. It is good to see our scholars getting offers across diverse industry sectors and markets in India and abroad.”
“It is an affirmation of the all-round integral formation we at XLRI strive to impart to our students. We are overwhelmed that this year the process was completed within the shortest time span ever — in just two and a half days.”
XLRI had also launched a parallel placement process called ‘Parivartan’, with the aim of showing its solidarity towards the social sector, where students could get summer internship opportunities with non-government and not-for-profit organisations.
Participant companies, such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Tata Trust and E-Vidyaloka selected two students each, during ‘Parivartan’.
