J&K Cements Retired Employees Welfare Association (JKCREWA) expressed serious concern regarding the authorities’ postponement in fulfilling their rightful retirement benefits request. The employees demanded that the pending retirement benefits be released as soon as possible, as retired employees are struggling to cover their daily expenses, such as the cost of medication to avoid health issues associated with ageing.

According to the meeting held on May 4, 2023, the actions taken by the government to postpone the payment of retirement benefits have caused significant suffering for retired JK Cements employees. As a result, they have been seeking justice and assistance from various sources.

The meeting also highlighted that many retirees are on the brink of starvation due to a lack of income, and some are unable to arrange marriages for their grown-up daughters because the authorities have not released their retirement dues, including unpaid salaries from several years.

The meeting stated that the Association has resolved to bring attention to their situation by organising a press conference before May 15th in order to draw the authorities’ attention to the matter. They also appealed to the government to release the retirement benefits through budgetary support or out of plan funds. It was also decided that the Association would approach the managing director (MD) once again to seek personal intervention in this matter.
