While Vedanta was declared one of the ‘Top Companies to Work for in Asia’, TCS became Industry Champions in the leadership category and the ‘Most Socially Responsible Company of the Year’.

Two leading Indian companies have been awarded for their leadership in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, eco consciousness and community care at the third annual Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability Awards (ACES), held in Singapore this month.

Vedanta Limited, the natural resources company was declared as one of the ‘Top Companies to Work for in Asia’ by the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) Awards, 2016. The award lauds the company’s adoption of global best practices in people management, developing in-house talent, creating an enabling work culture, sustainable development and corporate social responsibility.

“The ACES award reiterates our focus on empowering our people and contributing to our host communities. With adopting innovative organisational practices, we also pride ourselves as being an equal opportunity employer, which is a rarity in the natural resources industry. These trends are the DNA of Vedanta,” said Madhu Srivastava, group head – talent acquisition and diversity & inclusion, Vedanta Limited.

The company’s strong emphasis on freedom to learn, lead, explore, experiment, innovate and evolve as a professional and as a person, is what made it stand out as a great workplace. Effectively empowering individual skills and talents through new roles across businesses prepares them for leadership positions.

Vedanta is also a proud signatory of the ‘CEO Statement of Support’ for the United Nations’ Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP) — ‘Equality Means Business’. Aligning with its agenda of diversity, the company continually focusses on bringing diverse skills across the group, across grades and management levels.

As a socially responsible company, it also has skill development programmes across its communities in India.

Bringing another accolade to India, TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) was named Industry Champions in the leadership category. TCS’ leadership is reflected in its strong global footprint that spans a vast network of over 45 countries, with a workforce of over 350,000 employees. TCS’ mission statement stresses its aim to help customers achieve their business objectives by providing innovative, best-in-class consulting, IT solutions and services. Even more remarkably, the company aims to make it a joy for all stakeholders to work with them.

TCS was also named ‘Most Socially Responsible Company of the Year’ for its deep commitment to its corporate social responsibility (CSR) role.

Among 185 Asian businesses nominated for ACES 2016 awards, 11 were Indian companies. It recognises successful companies and individuals in Asia across two leading metrics— leadership and corporate social responsibility.
