DoorDash has opened its first office in India in Hyderabad, beginning operations with around 500 employees and planning to expand its workforce to more than 3,000 over the next two years.
Located in HITEC City, the new facility will house the company’s customer experience and integrity (CXI) and general and administrative teams. The centre will support DoorDash’s global operations and serve as an internal customer- support hub.
The Hyderabad facility is one of three DoorDash-owned CXI centres globally, alongside locations in Tempe, Arizona and Mexico City. The company plans to gradually expand the capabilities of the India centre, with potential roles in areas including integrity, fraud review and technical operations.
DoorDash said Hyderabad was selected for its talent pool and technology ecosystem. The India centre will support the company’s global platform, which serves more than 56 million monthly active consumers across its markets.
The company operates in more than 40 countries and processes over three billion orders annually.
DoorDash’s entry comes as Hyderabad continues to attract global companies establishing global capability centres and technology operations. The Telangana government said the city is home to more than 500 GCCs employing over 5 lakh people.
The state is targeting more than 100 additional GCCs, which it expects could create over 1 lakh high-value jobs and more than 3 lakh indirect employment opportunities. It also expects the number of people employed in GCCs in Hyderabad to reach 10 lakh by 2029.
