The results for the first quarter of financial year (FY) 2022-23 are out, and looks like Wipro has added more than 15,000 employees in the first quarter.
As per the report, Wipro’s total employee strength stood at 2,43,128 at the end of quarter four in FY 2021-22, and now the figure stands at 2,58,574. That means, Wipro has hired 15,446 employees in Q1, and out of these, 115 are part of the sales and customer support staff.
At the end of the first quarter, the total strength of the sales and customer support team in the Company stands at 17,806, which, interestingly, makes up for 6.8 per cent of it’s the total strength of the workforce.
In the last quarter of FY 2021-22, Wipro hired 11,457 employees, of which, only 96 included sales and customer support staff.
The Company has seen a slight dip in attrition levels. Currently, the attrition rate at Wipro stands at 23.3 per cent, whereas, in the last quarter it was at 23.8 per cent.
The IT industry has seen a sharp increase in the attrition rate. Wipro is no exception. In the last financial year, the Company’s attrition stood at 15.5 per cent in the first quarter. By the last quarter of FY 2021-22 it jumped to 23.8 per cent.
