Amit Vaish, who has been heading HR for operations and technology (O&T) at Barclays, has decided to change track. He will soon be leaving the organisation, where he has spent four-and-a half years.

At Barclays, Vaish worked closely with the Group’s O&T leadership teams to ensure operating model alignments, articulation of strategic objectives and delivery of a compelling talent value proposition. He has been responsible for building the local leadership team in India, overseeing performances and also creating the culture shift required to achieve the Bank’s growth objective.

An industry veteran, Vaish started his career in HR with ITC in June, 1996. In the new millennium, he jumped sectors and joined Ernst & Young, where he stayed for four and a half years before moving to Kellogg’s India, to head the HR function. Within the same group, he also got an Asia role as compensation & benefit head, for which he moved to Malaysia.

The challenge of moving sectors is especially appealing to Vaish, as is clear from his next move, that is, Accenture, which is a big name in the technology sector. Within Accenture, he held senior HR positions in multiple businesses.

Since August 2015, Vaish has been with Barclays, but is now gearing up for another adventure, as he will be bidding adieu in mid-February.

HRKatha spoke to Vaish about his future plans and his stint at Barclays.

“It’s been a phenomenal tenure with Barclays, helping to shape and deliver on the critical talent, leadership, innovation and culture journeys, to enable our GICs in India to step up successfully to the global transformation opportunity. The sustained focus on organisation capability building has ensured that we are better positioned today to take on global leadership for the Group across a range of tech and ops services going forward. I am looking forward to an exciting career challenge in the next phase,” says Vaish

Having graduated from the renowned St. Stephen’s with a degree in mathematics, Vaish studied to become an HR specialist at yet another top-notch college, XLRI, Jamshedpur.
