Mphasis has roped in Ayaskant Sarangi, who was CHRO, Wipro Enterprises, to take on the role of CHRO at the information technology (IT) solutions firm.
Sarangi will be part of the Executive Council of the company that specialises in cloud and cognitive services, and report directly to Nitin Rakesh, CEO and MD, Mphasis.
In the new role, Sarangi will lead the company’s global human resources strategy and operations and talent management, including recruitment and leadership development. He will also oversee Mphasis’ talent lifecycle and development including all aspects of HR operations.

Sarangi will be taking over from Srikanth Karra, who has served as CHRO, Mphasis, since 2017. Karra, who is scheduled to superannuate in 2024, will now take on the role of chief administrative officer (CAO) to enable a smooth transition.
Karra is “looking forward to working closely with Sarangi in the next few months to ensure a seamless transition.”
Sarangi himself is eager to work with the Mphasis team “to sustain the hi-tech, hi-touch and hi-trust culture and build an exciting future for all our stake-holders.”
Sarangi is backed by two decades of experience across diverse industries, with expertise in various facets of human resources, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management, compensation and benefits, mergers, and acquisitions, learning and development and analytics. He has not only overseen the HR function for service lines but has also provided strategic leadership to numerous Centers of Excellence (COEs) on a global scale, including those focused on leadership hiring, talent management, and learning and development.
Prior to joining Mphasis, he was with Wipro. His association with Wipro began way back in 2012, when he joined as VP and global head – HR, Wipro BPS. In 2015, he was elevated to VP-HR and provided HR leadership to 35000+ employees globally, based out of Bengaluru. By 2018, he had become the SVP – talent management, leadership hiring and L&D.
From 2021, he has been serving as CHRO – Wipro Enterprises.
In his long and successful career, Sarangi has also served GE Healthcare for more than eight years.
In the initial years of his career journey, Sarangi worked with Larsen and Toubro as HR executive for two years before moving to Infosys in the year 2000, as HR manager.
Sarangi holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from NIT Surat and a master’s degree in human resources from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.
