Cashfree appoints Sapna Sukumar as head of human resources

Sukumar takes up this position after spending five years at Medlife as head-HR.

Sapna Sukumar, who had earlier headed human resources at Medlife for almost five years, has now joined Cashfree, the online payment gateway, as head of HR. She will be operating out of the Company’s Bangalore office. In her previous role, at Medlife, she was responsible for providing strategic human resource leadership to business units and stakeholders, and managing strategic partnerships with cross-functional teams for leveraging productivity.

She began her career as assistant manager for HR with the MAC Group, in 2002. There, she managed employee turnover, pay packages and rewards for teams. She also provided support to HR operations for the international business and was responsible for establishing HR strategic plans and solutions, to direct the global teams for unit-level initiatives. Overall, she provided support for the entire HR function, at the MAC Group.

After more than six years of association with the organisation, she left in 2009 to join UTC Fire and Security as manager-HR, India for the electronic-security business. At UTC, she reported directly to the HR director for the APAC region and worked with the global HR team as a strategic business partner to support HR activities. She leant support to organisational development, learning and development, competency mapping and talent acquisition for the organisation.

In 2011, she left UTC and a year’s break later, in 2012, she made a comeback to join Mindlogicx Infratech as the vice president – HR. For two years, she led the HR function for the organisation and reported directly to the founder and CEO. She left in 2014, to join SImplilearn as director-HR. There, she was responsible for overseeing the talent-acquisition vertical and working with the learning and development team to design an effective learning programme.

Sukumar has completed an MBA in human resources management and personnel administration, from Alagappa University.
