She interned with Cavinkare Group of Companies as an HR generalist and then with Harita Fehrer as an industrial relations intern. After interning with E&Y in Dubai for two months, she joined Tata Consultancy Services as a talent management intern in 2011.

She was absorbed by TCS as unit associate lead-resource management group, in July of 2012. Over two years into this role, she was elevated to regional lead-resource management group. She spent the next year and a half deploying key staffing processes, managing compliance, looking into target achievement, and also managing the regional pool of resources, among other responsibilities.

After more than three and a half years with TCS, CS Maithreyi moved to Wipro as HR business partner, inclusion and diversity partner, in February of 2016.

In August of 2018, she was promoted to HR business partner, career initiatives.

She chose to take a small career break to be a full-time parent for less than a half a year, before joining Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society as a senior manager-human resources. Five and a half years into this role, she was promoted to head-academy and human resources, in September of 2025.

Maithreyi has also been associated with Rasmussen Consulting, with the LEGO Serious Play certification for over 11 years now.
