Former VP-HR, Pepsico, joins Viatris as head – global people operations

Viatris, the global pharmaceutical and healthcare company, has roped in Vikas Joshi as head – global people operations. Joshi has moved from Pepsico, where he was vice president – HR, global operations.

An alumnus of XLRI, Jamshedpur, Joshi’s association with Pepsico began way back in 1999, when he joined as HR manager – South market unit. After almost four years into this role, he moved to Arvind Mills Overseas, as head – HR.

December 2004 saw him back at Pepsico. This time, he joined as HR manager – North market unit. By 2008, he was the organisation capability manager. Based out of Bangkok, he led talent management/org capability agenda for the business units in North Asia, Pakistan and Philippines (including Japan, Korea, Afganisthan and Singapore). In 2009, he was elevated to C&B operations manager for Asia, the Middle East and Australia, based out of Dubai. Less than two years into this role, he was made the HR director, GCC Bevs BU. January 2014 saw him being promoted to HR senior director, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

From 2017 to 2021, he was senior director – human resources, and worked out of New York. In this role, he set up HR shared services across three green-field delivery centres (Hyderabad, Krakow and Cairo) using process standardisation and technology solutions. It was in May 2021 that he became VP – HR, global operations.

Given his experience across sectors, including information technology (IT), textiles and CPG, and his vast global exposure, he is bound to be an asset to Viatris. Joshi has lived in India, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Thailand, UAE, Saudi Arabia and the US, which makes him a truly global HR executive.
