JCB India has appointed Umesh Hota as EVP-HR, administration and CSR. Prior to this, he was the president – HR at Ultratech Cements. During his stint with Ultratech, Hota played a crucial role in cultural transformation amidst three major acquisitions — Jaypee, Binani and Centuary Cement.

Hota entered the Aditya Birla Group in 2013, when he joined Hindalco Industries, as president – HR. In his successful three-decade long career, Hota has worked with some great brands, including RB and RPG group.

After completing an MBA in HR, Hota joined Indian Aluminium Company and then moved on to Videocon in the electronics division as senior HR manager. His next stop was Reckitt Benckiser, where he spent five years. Hota’s expertise in handling industrial relations, can be attributed to the fact that he has had major exposure to the working of factories. In 2006, Hota joined the RPG Group and was the head of human resources for Philips Carbon Black. He assisted the CEO in making it the most profitable business in the portfolio.

After spending a year at RPG, Hota moved to General Cables as VP-HR. There, he played a part in transforming the culture of the Company during mergers and acquisitions. After spending two years at General Cables, Hota joined Bausch & Lomb, the eye care firm, as CHRO for India and South East Asia.

Hota is also a law graduate from Sambalpur University, Odisha.
