Jennifer Mathew Fernandes has been appointed the chief human resources officer (CHRO) of Bajaj Finance. Earlier she was with Bajaj Finserv where she spent over a decade in various HR positions.
Having graduated in Economics (Hons) from Miranda House, Jennifer Mathew Fernandes went on to complete an MBA in HR from Xavier Institute of Social Services.
Her first professional association was with Concast Standard Engineering, as HR executive, from 2001 to 2002. She then moved to KGK as executive-HR, in May of 2002. In February of 2003 she became the national head-strategic relationships, Team 4 u. For the next almost four years, she had the opportunity to exercise her entrepreneurial skills and deliver on the organisational objectives. She was also instrumental in setting up and establishing the company’s Western presence in India. She was amongst the key employees retained post the acquisition of the company by Randstad.
Fernandes’ next stop was L&T Financial Services, in November of 2006. She helped set up and establish the HR practice for the entire group and also facilitated the scaling up of the HR function in parallel with the growth and evolution of the company during her stint that lasted almost nine years.
January of 2021 was witness to Fernandes taking up the role of chief human resources officer (CHRO), Bajaj Housing Finance. Two years and four months later, she was appointed deputy chief human resources officer, Bajaj Finance, in 2023.
She has also been associated with Bajaj Finserv in various HR roles, including senior head-HR-CoE for over five years.
