    K Padmakumar, director-HR, BPCL, takes additional charge as CMD

    Following the superannuation of D Rajkumar, CMD, Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) on August 31, 2020, K Padmakumar, director-HR, BPCL, has been elevated and assigned with the additional role of CMD, BPCL.

    Rajkumar is an electrical engineer from IIT, Madras, and a postgraduate in management from IIM, Bangalore, with over 36 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry. He also has 17 years of Board-level experience. During his tenure at BPCL, he managed numerous important portfolios across the oil & gas value chain, including engineering and projects, exploration and production, and management of joint ventures and subsidiaries, which resulted in strengthening BPCL’s expertise in management of cross-functional teams.

    Now, his responsibilities will be shouldered by an equally experienced K Padmakumar, who is the director-HR and will also essay the role of chairman and managing director.

    Backed by over 36 years of experience in BPCL, K Padmakumar has handled almost all aspects of the HR function, including policy framework, HR strategy, organisational learning and talent management. He has been on the Company’s board as director for over two years now.

    A Fortune Global 500 company, BPCL, with its refineries at Mumbai and Kochi, subsidiary Numaligarh Refinery at Assam and joint venture Bina Refinery at Madhya Pradesh, has a collective refining capacity of more than 40 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA). In 2019-20, BPCL’s gross revenue from operations was a whopping Rs. 327,580 crores, while the net profit was Rs. 2,683 crores.
