In his new role as an in-house subject matter expert, Nigam will support Omidyar Network’s portfolio companies in India with respect to people practices
Saurabh Nigam, who quit the e-commerce firm, Snapdeal last week as SVP and head of HR, is all set to join the non-profit investment firm Omidyar Network as vice president, human capital. HRKatha reported his decision to quit Snapdeal last week, as he shared that he would soon disclose the details of his next assignment.
In his new role as an in-house subject matter expert, Nigam will be responsible for supporting Omidyar Network’s portfolio companies in India with respect to people practices. He joins the firm on June 12 and will be based in Bengaluru.
At Snapdeal, Nigam played a significant role in a massive ramp up of the organisation from a little less than 1000 people to almost 7000 in less than a year from 2014 to 2015. Snapdeal also featured among one of the best organisations to work for in the retail industry during his stint. In addition, he has an extensive experience in a full spectrum of business operations in diverse industries including high-tech, legal, and start-ups.
Nigam holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunications from The Army Institute of Technology, Pune and a post graduate diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations (PM&IR) from XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur, India. He also holds the SPHR, GPHR and HRMP from SHRM, USA – being the only Indian, and one among the first 10 people globally, to hold these three certifications simultaneously.
Talking of his next endeavour, Nigam says, “I will continue to work towards creating innovative people practices which in turn have positive business impact. I will look forward to doing so on a much broader canvas across different industries in my next role.”
Nigam will report to Roopa Kudva, partner at Omidyar Network and managing director of Omidyar Network India Advisors.
