Academician turned corporate HR leader, Swatee Sarangi has made her second move in the corporate sector. She has joined the pharmaceutical major Dr Reddy’s as global head for learning, leadership and organisational development.
An academician for 17 years and a gold medalist, with over 20 papers in distinguished publications, she has been the recipient of best management faculty in 2015 from Ratan Tata for outstanding all round performance in management education. She moved to corporate HR in 2016.
Sarangi, after completing her masters in personnel management and industrial relations from Utkal University, started her career as the associate professor for HR and organisational behaviour at KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research in 1998.
During the same time she was also pursuing a PhD in talent management from SNDT Women’s university in Mumbai and did her doctoral dissertation in organisational culture, communication and employee engagement.
In June 2016, she made her transition into the corporate HR when she joined Larsen and Toubro as the head of capability development and corporate HR.
During her stint at L&T, she was instrumental in contributing to several HR functions such as planning and budgeting, developing leadership pipelines and designing models for talent development across business units. She drove the robust seven-step leadership pipeline and was responsible for building and boosting leadership succession models and learning strategies. She partnered with business for talent, workforce capability, competency demands and strategic learning & development interventions.
She has sculpted competency based learning journeys blending classroom and digital formats using innovative pedagogy aligned to individual development plans.
