As part of its plans to expand its workforce in India, Cognizant is all set to increase hiring from campuses. It plans to recruit more than 20,000 fresh technical graduates. The Company, which had laid off thousands of employees in the September quarter—as part of cost-cutting measures— is now looking to hire digitally-ready talent.
With India being the Company’s largest global employee hub, Cognizant will also be hiring 30 per cent more engineering and science graduates in the country this year. Better still, it will be offering higher salary packages, of about Rs 4 lakhs—an 18 per cent hike—to engineering graduates.
In 2019, Cognizant became the second IT company after Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to recruit more than 2,00,000 employees in the country.
The Company now plans to focus on making the best of the available local talent within the country.
Recently, Cognizant launched a new facility in Mangalore, Karnataka, spread over 1,00,000 sq feet with the ability to accommodate more than 1100 employees. The Company already has other facilities in the state, in the cities of Bengaluru and Mysore.
From its Mangalore facility, Cognizant will be offering consulting, enterprise applications and business-process services in the area of mortgage processing, property taxes, research, investigations, property-data warehousing and geospatial data management.
With an expanded workforce, Cognizant is all set to promote its capabilities in the areas of data, digital engineering, cloud, and the internet of things (IoT).
