A mobile app will help retiring officials monitor the progress of their pension settlements.
The Central Government employees face several problems before and after retirement. After retirement, they are concerned about their pensions, future investments and other issues. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) is going to make this retirement process easier.
DoPT is going to launch a mobile app for retiring Central Government employees, so that they can see and monitor the progress of their pension-settlement cases.
All the facilities available on the web portal for the pensioners will be available in this mobile app. This app will provide great relief to the retired employees, as they can check and monitor their pensions from the comfort of their homes.
The application will help the superannuating central government officials to monitor the progress of their pension settlement. The retired officials can check the details of their pension amounts through the pension calculator. They can also register complaints and get updates on orders issued by the department.
Apart from this mobile application, the Ministry already has a pensioner’s web portal, where they can monitor their pensions and raise a complaint.
Also, the Department of Pensions & Pensioner’s Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, is going to organise a workshop on pre-retirement counselling for 300 Central Government employees. These employees, who are going to retire soon, will be made aware of their post-retirement entitlements.
The workshop will cover topics, such as road map to retirement, medical facilities available for pensioners and re-engagement of retired people for voluntary social activities.
They will also be offered guidance to plan their life after retirement. The workshop will have sessions on Income Tax and other benefits for senior citizens. The retired people will be given tips on investment and financial planning.
Pension adalats will be held by the Pension Department to bring together the aggrieved pensioners, the departments concerned and a bank or CGHS representative to settle the complaints of the pensioners.
Government has also come up with a way to obtain feedback from the retiring employees. DoPT has a platform, ‘Anubhav’, where retiring officers share their experiences on working with the Government. Taking insights from this feedback, the Government will create institutional wealth for future governance and to inspire the coming generations of government officials.
