    Skillsoft’s Percipio: Redefining e-learning

Percipio is a cloud-based, content delivery and learning platform.

Learning cannot be imposed, it can only be acquired when one has the will and feels engaged in the learning process. Unlike the traditional learning models that worked on a push factor, the new-age learning is about the pull it can create and let people choose what, when and how they want to learn.

In line with this need, and taking e-learning a step ahead, Skillsoft has launched Percipio, a cloud-based, state-of-the-art content delivery and learning platform. Built by leveraging almost 20 years of e-learning experience, Percipio is designed to provide a beautiful, consumer-led experience that makes the learner feel engaged and inspired.

The name, ‘Percipio’, Latin for ‘acquiring knowledge,’ reflects Skillsoft’s commitment to transforming the e-learning industry. The platform is designed with the user experience in mind to inspire personal learning and career development.

Potoula Chresomales, ?senior vice president of product management, Skillsoft, tells HRKatha that “Percipio is a next-generation e-learning platform and what’s unique about it, is that it is entirely learner focussed and covers a broad spectrum of critical skills that most organisations require in their employees.”

It offers content in four areas—digital skills; business skills or soft skills, such as communication or presentation; functional skills, such as basic finance or operations; and management and leadership skills. In addition, Chresomales shares that the platform offers personalised learning solutions to the users, making the product special.

“The entire content is micro-learning based with three to five-minute videos, e-books and audio books. The users can save their own playlists, access whatever content they need, whenever they wish, with one click. So, if you have three to four minutes in a day, you can learn something new – even on the go. And if you do that every day, learning becomes a habit,” she says.

With this approach, Skillsoft is reimagining its interaction with learners, managers, and programme administrators with a platform that keeps the learner engaged and delivers great outcomes.

“Percipio is the result of exhaustive research of the market, our customers, and the multiple generations in the workforces,” says Apratim Purakayastha, CTO, Skillsoft . “This brand new platform is the start of an ongoing substantial investment to bring the very best platform-learning experience to our clients and their users. As the market leader, it focusses us on driving the very best learning outcomes, with the highest standards of accessibility.”

Percipio features a personalised homepage, where learners can track their goals, launch recommended and popular content, and follow designated learning paths. Other comprehensive features include customised curated channels that adapt to the learners’ specific needs. These channels are an easy way for learners to find all resources available on a specific topic. Coupled with a new state-of-the-art search engine, learners can easily find what they need, exactly when they need it.

The new intuitive operations dashboard also allows administrators to track progress and show consumption. With these new reporting capabilities, managers can identify smart actions to increase content usage with their specific learners.

“Skillsoft has a very robust library of training content and excellent relationships, with influential and recognised SMEs,” said Cushing Anderson, programme vice president, business consulting and IT education, IDC. “In this current age of increased demands and accelerating change, no one has time to waste. Learners must quickly find answers to meet their learning needs. Percipio accelerates this process.”
