Page Kemna composed a musical CV, sang it, and posted the video on LinkedIn, allowing her a larger reach
Ever wondered what you should do as a fresh graduate looking for a great opportunity, to be able to cut through the stiff competition out there? Of course, all your skills and talent matter, but the employers out there are all looking for that extra zing. So, how do you convince them that you have it in you? All working professionals have at one point of time in their lives, faced this struggle and a few out there have found unique, extraordinary ways to pave their path ahead.
One such talented young girl, Page Kemna, a fresh graduate from the University of Denver, and a music enthusiast, singer, songwriter and arranger decided to go the unusual way to apply for jobs. Chucking the boring paper resume, she set her resume to music. She posted a video of herself singing out her resume on LinkedIn, which went viral on other channels as well, allowing her a much larger reach.
Talking of the idea behind doing so, Kemna tells HRKatha, “I chose to sing my resume because I knew I didn’t have much work experience after graduating university, and because of that, my paper resume might not be all that exciting to job recruiters. I wanted to grab their attention in an unconventional way that would show creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, and I found that singing my resume was a cool way to do that!”
As Kemna had expected, the responses she received were overwhelming, and all so positive. Following the release of her video, Kemna now has thousands of connections on LinkedIn, and hundreds of recruiters and influential executives have either asked her to interview for positions in their businesses, or have offered their advice and services to her for the job search— “All without even sending them a paper resume!” Kemna exclaims.

While others— who write their skills and virtues in a conventional CV—have to prove their mettle, Kemna’s musical CV says it all in a song. In addition to being unusual, her creative and smart approach has turned out to be beneficial to her in astonishing ways.
“It’s been amazing. There are opportunities everywhere now, and my career is taking off—but in ways I never expected. I am now doing freelance work: writing songs and jingles for notable businesses (as well as some amazing small businesses) and being sought out for advice regarding social-media improvements,” Kemna shares.
Although she’s still open to employment opportunities, currently she’s working for herself, which she says has always been her dream. In line with that, when asked about her dream companies, Kemna says, “There were many companies I always thought I would love to work for. Spotify is such an amazing platform. Facebook/Instagram were always at the top of my list as well, but I think my ultimate goal is to be my own boss, and build a business doing what I love: singing, performing, connecting, and creating with others.”
Kemna has been singing and playing the piano since she was three and her resume song speaks volumes of her capabilities to be able to do well, be it as an employee to a business or on her own. Here’s the resume song for you.
