TeamLease EdTech, the learning solutions company and a group company of TeamLease Services, has launched Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes (AEDP) for students desirous of pursuing industry- focused bachelor degrees. This first-of-its-kind programme offers students an opportunity to take a graduate course as well as experience on-the-job training. Currently, the AEDP TeamLease Edtech has developed three degree courses, which will be rolled out this academic session at Jain (deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru.

The three courses offered under ADEP are Apprenticeship-Embedded BA degree, BBA degree and BCom degree.

These courses will make students employable, allowing them exposure to the world, and providing them on-the-job experience. They will make “learning by doing” a reality. Students opting for ADEP will get a chance at a onetime apprenticeship in the final year, in addition to the significant work experience throughout the course. The students can also get monthly stipends in the range defined by the Minimum Wages Act. They only have to passed at least 12th class from any stream to be eligible. The enrolment process is already underway and is open till April 30, 2021.

Shantanu Rooj, CEO and founder, TeamLease Edtech, points out that India has a paucity of skilled workforce across industries, which has been worrisome for employers. Even for jo-seeking students, it is a challenge to come across the right opportunity as they are unable to fulfil the expectations of employers. “Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes are a very effective way to bridge this gap. Through these programmes, employability of students can be enhanced as they not only impart them with theoretical knowledge, but also offer them adequate industry exposure.”

The Company is looking at “launching many such programmes with Jain (Deemed-to-be- University) as well as many other colleges across the county in this year itself.”

NVH Krishnan, registrar (Deemed-to-be University), said, “In India, skills, especially hands-on knowledge, are becoming far more important. Initiatives like this can go a long way in bridging that need and help our youth become employable. With this strategic partnership, we will create a qualified and strong workforce by unlocking the full potential of the youngsters who wish to build a better future for themselves and the society around them”.
