Amazon, which had a 9,500-strong workforce across 50 locations in Italy, will soon expand its team by about 3,000. It plans to hire about 3,000 new permanent employees this year as part of its increased investments in the country.

With the pandemic giving a push to online shopping, the e-commerce company is gearing up to invest more than 350 million euros in three new sites, set to launch in the autumn, in Lombardy, Piedmont and Emilia Romagna.

The Company is looking for talent in the areas of packaging and shipping, marketing, finance and research of new technologies.

Meanwhile, in the US and Canada, the e-Retailer is looking to add 75,000 people to its fulfilment and logistics network across various locations. The jobs will pay an average of $17 an hour and include a signing bonus of up to $1,000, along with an additional $100 for new hires who can produce proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Amongs the available positions, are openings at Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market locations, where Prime members can avail free delivery in less than two hours.

This year, Amazon will hold its ‘Prime Day’ from June 21 to June 22 in 20 countries, including the US, the UK, Japan, Brazil and Italy. The Prime Day sales event began in 2015, allowing customers to sign up for $119 a year Prime membership, which ensures faster shipping and access to the deals. Over the years, it has become one of the much awaited shopping days.
