A US-based CEO sparked controversy by firing nearly his entire team for missing a morning meeting. Out of 110 staff members, only 11 retained their jobs after attending the meeting.
The mass termination was announced through a blunt message on Slack, where Baldvin, the CEO, expressed frustration over employees’ lack of attendance.
In his message, the CEO accused employees of breaching their agreements by failing to attend mandatory meetings and fulfil contractual obligations. He ordered them to return company property, log out of accounts, and exit the Slack workspace immediately. The abrupt firings were as a response to what the CEO perceived as a lack of seriousness and commitment.
An intern at the company shared details on Reddit, revealing that they were fired just an hour after joining. The intern claimed they were unaware of the meeting due to lack of access to the relevant Slack channels. Discussions within the company reportedly included grievances about the CEO’s leadership.
