    Lupin appoints Yugesh Goutam as president, global human resources

    Goutam is a seasoned HR professional with over 29 years of diverse experience across sectors – FMCG, IT, telecom, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, healthcare & medical devices and infrastructure. 

    Pharma major Lupin Limited has appointed Yugesh Goutam as president – global human resources. Goutam has moved in from JSW, where he was group president – HR. JSW is an $11 billion conglomerate, which is part of the O P Jindal Group that has strong footprints in sectors such as steel, energy, minerals, port & infrastructure, and cement.

    Goutam, a seasoned HR professional with over 29 years of diverse experience across sectors – FMCG, IT, telecom, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, healthcare & medical devices and infrastructure – will be based out of the Mumbai corporate office. In the past, he has lived and worked out of India, Dubai and Singapore.

    Goutam will be responsible for human resources for Lupin and all its subsidiaries worldwide. He has taken over from Divakar Kaza, who has opted to retire after a transition period to pursue other interests.

    After his Masters in personnel management and industrial relations from University Business School, Chandigarh, Goutam started his career with VST Industries in 1987, where he rose up the ranks to become head – management development, in the 8 years, which he spent in the company.

    In 1995, he joined the medical technology company, Becton, Dickinson and Company, as GM HR for India operations. In the six years that he spent with BD, he became training and development head, Asia Pacific and later head HR – South East Asia. He was based out of Singapore.

    In 2001 he joined Reliance Industries as v-p, HR, from where he moved to Pfizer as executive director – HR in 2004. In early 2009, he joined RPG Enterprises’ Infrastructure division as executive director – HR. Since 2014, he was with JSW Group.

    Goutam has also done a Human Resources executive program from the University of Michigan, USA in 1998.

    Nilesh Gupta, managing director, Lupin, says in an official communique, “Goutam has joined Lupin at a time where we are not only building on our leadership in key markets but also expanding our geographical presence, as we continue on our transformational journey to emerge as a specialty pharmaceutical and complex generics major globally. He will continue to build on our HR processes and systems, adding depth to deliver a world-class people driven organisation.”

    Lupin is the 3rd largest Indian pharmaceutical company by sales globally.
