Zomato and Swiggy, the food-delivery platforms, have launched COVID-19 vaccination drive in India for their delivery partners.
Swiggy had announced on social media that it will make free vaccination possible for its delivery workers and also cover the pay that they may lose in trying to get their two doses. Following suit, Zomato also announced its intention to get its delivery staff vaccinated.
As per a social-media post by Deepinder Goyal, founder – Zomato, the Company started with the free inoculation of its partners in the National Capital Region (NCR) and has now started expanding the drive to include its delivery personnel in Bengaluru and Mumbai. This drive will benefit more than a lakh and a half delivery personnel and employees of Zomato. To facilitate the same, Zomato has tied up with Max Healthcare and will soon extend this facility to its partners in Bengaluru too.
If its delivery personnel wish to get vaccinated on their own, from some facility or centre near their residence, Zomato will cover their vaccination cost.
Swiggy has started inoculating its delivery force in Bengaluru and has already administered the vaccine to thousands of its delivery personnel.
Both Zomato and Swiggy will begin sending notifications to its customers on the status of inoculation of their delivery boys, via their apps.
Amazon, Flipkart and Uber are also reportedly planning to initiate vaccination drives for their delivery personnel and frontline staff.
