Are you a fresher seeking to become employable in India’s competitive job market? You can try obtaining a certification in either of these sought-after fields: financial planning, graphic design, digital marketing and data science.
As per the Career Outlook Report for the second half of 2024, by TeamLease Edtech, in the list of top 15 roles that are in demand for freshers, the role of data analyst ranks no. 1. The skills associated with this role are, data visualisation, statistical analysis and programming languages (Python, R, SQL).
The second most in-demand role is that of a full-stack developer. Employers look for skills in programming languages, web development and database management in freshers for this role.
In third place is the role of search engine optimisation (SEO) executive. The skills freshers require to posses for this are keyword search, technical SEO knowledge and critical thinking.
Number four on the list is the role of junior DevOps engineer, adept at Linux fundamentals and scripting, cloud platforms knowledge communication and collaboration skills.
In fifth position is the role of digital sales associate, requiring freshers with mastery of sales techniques, customer relationship management and communication skills.
The sixth position goes to content-marketing assistant, a role that requires skills in content creation, marketing skills and social-media management.
This is followed by the role of supply-chain associate, which requires skills in customer service, communication and analytics.
Legal associates are the eight most-sought after from the freshers’ talent pool. Candidates are expected to be capable of legal research and writing, analytical and critical thinking, and ethical judgement and professionalism.
The ninth role on the list is that of microbiologists. The candidates have to possess knowledge of molecular biology, along with a research mindset and knowledge of laboratory techniques.
The 10th sought-after role is that of data engineer, for which freshers need to have skills in programming, database management and ETL processes.
The last five roles on the list of those most sought after are: network systems analyst, medical research associate, finance analyst, UI/UX designer and biochemist.
Skills required for the network systems analyst role are: networking basic, customer service and troubleshooting. Those aspiring to be medical research associates should have knowledge of research methodology, lab techniques and clinical trial management. Financial analyst roles will require freshers to be adept at analytics, accounting and financial modeling. For aUI/UX designer, the freshers need to possess knowledge of design tools, prototyping and wireframing, as well as user research along with empathy. Knowledge of laboratory techniques, data analysis and molecular biology is necessary for the role of biochemist.
The top 10 domain skills in demand for freshers across cities and industries in India are: data analytics, cyber security, cloud computing, machine learning, search engine optimization, content creation, medical coding, supply-chain management, programming and digital marketing.
The top three industries that intend to hire freshers during July-December, 2024 are e-commerce & technology startups ( 61 per cent), engineering and infrastructure startups (59 per cent); startups in the retail space (54 per cent)
Bangalore appears to have the highest hiring intent for freshers in the second half of 2024 (54 per cent), followed by Mumbai (74 per cent), Chennai (60 per cent), as per the TeamLease EdTech Career Outlook Report (HY2, Jul – Dec, 2024)
