There are also 30,219 vacancies in Social Welfare, Municipal Administration Departments and the Water Supply Board.

More than 77.78 lakh youngsters have already bagged various jobs in the organised sector, according to government statistics. They have had Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) accounts opened for them too.

Chief Minister M K Stalin has shared the government initiatives taken since May 2021 to ensure jobs for the educated youth of Tamil Nadu. The ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ skill-development programme for students saw over three lakh youngsters being placed in private jobs in the last three years, while over two lakh have found jobs via the job fairs organised by the Labour Department.

Meanwhile, the Labour Ministry has taken note of media reports alleging Foxconn, the iPhone manufacturer of following discriminatory hiring practices at its plant in Tamil Nadu. The Ministry has sought detailed report from the Labour Department of the Tamil Nadu Government.
