While most companies are downsizing due to the impact of the pandemic on businesses, e-commerce company, Amazon India, has offered some hope. It will be generating over 50,000 seasonal jobs in the country.
These jobs will help Amazon India fulfil the rising demand for Amazon’s online shopping services.
During the lockdown, for about two months, Amazon had to stop deliveries. As a result, it has witnessed a sudden spike in demand with the lockdown being relaxed in most places across the country. The Company has now been allowed to resume deliveries, and it requires additional staff to meet this demand rush.
Resources are required for its fulfilment centres as well as delivery network. Job seekers will also have the opportunity to work as independent contractors with Amazon Flex, with part-time or flexible options. The Company requires hands to help its existing associates in picking goods, packing them, and also shipping and delivering them to customers in an efficient manner.
Amazon sees its e-commerce business as a means to ensure social distancing in these difficult times. It is also proud of its employees who are delivering goods to its customers, including small businesses, across the country during these challenging times.
With the Company being allowed to resume deliveries, it is being extra cautious about closely monitoring the health condition of its employees, checking their temperatures regularly, ensuring that they sanitise their hands and also wear masks and gloves.
