LIn a move to boost sustainable development in the Northeastern region, the School of Logistics, Communication, and Waterways at Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) has partnered with the Logistics Sector Skill Council, Chennai. The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday to enhance the region’s workforce and improve logistics infrastructure.

The primary goal is to increase the supply of skilled and employable labour, particularly in Tripura and neighboring states. The agreement also aims to integrate local natural resources, biodiversity, and tourism potential with advanced technology and skill-development initiatives.

The MoU was signed by Sushant Dutta, chief engineer at the School of Logistics, and Ravikant Yamarti, CEO of the Logistics Sector Skill Council, at a ceremony held in Agartala. Key government and industry stakeholders were present to discuss the strategic importance of enhancing logistics capabilities in the region.

During the event, it was stressed that the North East holds significant trade potential and that collaboration and skill development will create more job opportunities in the region.

The integration of technological advancements and the introduction of specialised courses in educational institutions are expected to drive economic progress. This initiative is seen as a vital step toward building a more developed Tripura in the coming years.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen industry-academia ties, ensuring students and professionals acquire the necessary skills to meet the demands of the logistics sector. With consistent efforts, the North East has the potential to become a key player in India’s logistics and supply-chain network, contributing to both regional and national economic growth.

The MoU marks a turning point in the North-East’s journey toward sustainable growth, focusing on employment, skill enhancement, and economic development.
