Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor Company have signed a joint development agreement to design and launch electric three-wheelers (E3Ws) for India’s fast-growing last-mile mobility market. Hyundai will lead the design and technology side, using its global research and development (R&D) strengths, while TVS Motor will provide its proven electric platform and deep knowledge of local customer needs.

The partnership is structured to focus on local manufacturing, with TVS Motor handling production, sales and distribution. This approach is expected to keep costs competitive, support scalability, and open opportunities for exports. By localising components, the collaboration will strengthen India’s electric vehicle supply chain and generate new employment across manufacturing, engineering and distribution networks.

The alliance builds on the successful showcase at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and signals a major step toward cleaner, more efficient transport solutions. With Hyundai’s focus on advanced design and TVS Motor’s strong market presence, the project aims to deliver purpose-built vehicles that meet the needs of urban and rural customers alike.

Beyond mobility, the initiative carries wider economic benefits. Local sourcing and production will create jobs in factories, logistics and allied industries. The rollout of electric three-wheelers will also expand opportunities for drivers and fleet operators, supporting sustainable livelihoods while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Together, Hyundai and TVS are positioning themselves to shape the future of India’s last-mile transport. Their collaboration highlights how global technology and local expertise can combine to deliver employment, innovation, and accessible clean mobility.
