On the 76th Republic Day, India showcased its commitment to skilling and job creation through transformative initiatives under the Skill India Mission. These programmes have empowered youth nationwide, fostering self-reliance and generating sustainable livelihoods.
The Skill India Mission continues to play a pivotal role in equipping individuals with job-ready skills, catering to industries’ evolving demands. From advanced training in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to grassroots entrepreneurship- development programmes, the focus remains on creating a globally- competitive workforce.
India’s skilling ecosystem has contributed significantly to employment generation, with over 63 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) employing more than 11 crore people. The sector also accounts for 30 per cent of GDP and 45 per cent of exports, underlining its critical role in economic growth.
One standout example of the initiative’s success is the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP), which has helped individuals establish businesses across diverse sectors.
Special attention is also given to women entrepreneurs and underserved regions such as the Northeast. Programmes in these areas have not only provided skills but also created pathways for financial independence and community upliftment.
India’s skilling initiatives are creating robust job opportunities, enabling the youth to secure meaningful employment and contribute to the nation’s growth. These efforts reflect the country’s vision of becoming a global hub of skilled talent, driven by innovation, inclusion and resilience.
