upGrad, the skilling and workforce-development company, has acquired Internshala, the internship and early-talent marketplace, through a 90 per cent stock-swap deal. Internshala, founded in 2010, has built a network of 34 million registered users and 4,50,000 employers, with about three million active applicants each year. The platform attracts most of its traffic organically and has a strong presence in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets, where over 40 per cent of its users are based.
This acquisition strengthens upGrad’s ability to cover the full career journey — from education and skill-building to employment. By integrating Internshala, upGrad aims to create a structured ecosystem where students can access internships, gain job-ready skills, and move into full-time roles more smoothly. The company plans to invest further in product innovation, AI-driven talent matching, and enterprise hiring solutions, with the goal of scaling Internshala’s current Rs 45 crore revenue to Rs 100 crore and beyond.
Internshala will continue to operate independently under the leadership of Sarvesh Agrawal, founder and CEO, while benefiting from upGrad’s scale, technology, and learning ecosystem. The partnership is expected to amplify Internshala’s impact by skilling millions of candidates and offering pre-trained talent to companies at scale.
This move is a milestone in upGrad’s mission to power India’s skilling economy. By linking structured learning with real work opportunities, the combined platform will support millions of learners and organisations, helping graduates transition into careers more effectively and enabling employers to access a steady pipeline of skilled talent. The acquisition positions upGrad and Internshala as a powerful launchpad for India’s next generation of professionals.
