Employees of Wipro will now have to ensure that they spend at least six hours in office on the days that they work from office. Yes, the IT major has decided to become strict with its hybrid work policy in the New Year. Starting January 2026 itself, the company has set a minimum limit to the in-office work hours on the days that employees report to work in the physical office.
Attendance in office was already mandatory for three days a week ever since the hybrid work arrangements came into existence in 2024.
Working hours for Wipro employees remain nine and a half hours on any standard working day, of which now at least six hours need to be spent in the office (on an office day), while the remaining hours can be completed from home on the same day, ensuring completion of the assignment for the day.
As per an ET report, it is clear that Wipro is keeping an eye on the exact number of hours employees are spending within the office, by monitoring when they punch in and out.
Employees have reportedly received an official e-mail regarding this mandate. They have been warned that if they fail to adhere to the six hours in office mandate for work-from-office days, their leave balance will be affected.
They are likely to lose half a day’s leave if they do not put in a minimum of six hours of work from the physical office on an office day.
