    CEAT Tyres’ Ranjan Sarkar joins Exide Industries as CHRO

    Sarkar comes with more than 18 years of cross-industry experience.

    Ranjan Sarkar, erstwhile VP, HR at CEAT Tyres, has joined Exide Industries as the EVP HR, CHRO. Sarkar comes with more than 18 years of cross-industry experience and he joined the battery manufacturer this month.

    In his previous roles, he has worked across industries such as automobile, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, BFSI and media and communication. He also has a diverse experience in change management in people practices, strategic partnership to business, championing M&A, building HR roadmap for south Asian countries and building HR organisation in greenfield assignments.

    Before joining Exide Industries, Sarkar worked with CEAT Tyres, where he had joined as GM, HR in 2008. After having spent more than eight years at the company, he decided to move on into a new and bigger role.

    He has also worked with Kotak Life Insurance, GlaxoSmithKline and Zee Entertainment. Sarkar, an MBA in HR from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, began his career in 1999 with Shaw Wallace as a management trainee and later moved up the corporate ladder.

    In 2000, he joined GlaxoSmithKline as HR Manager and in 2004, he was appointed as the SBU HR head, media and head, HR, DTH at Zee Entertainment Enterprises. He then joined Kotak Life Insurance as AVP HR in December 2007 before moving to CEAT Tyres.

    In his new role, Sarkar will be based in Kolkata at the headquarters of Exide. The company, founded in 1947, has plants across India and Sri Lanka.
