    Graviton Research Capital ropes in Ashish Banga as CPO

    Ashish Banga, former CHRO, Vishal Mega Mart, has now joined Graviton Research Capital as chief people officer (CPO).

    An alumnus of the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, Banga’s career began with HCL Technologies, where he worked as associate consultant for over a year, from Jan 2004 to 2005.

    He joined Genpact as HR generalist in 2007 for a year and a half.

    His next stop was the Coca-Cola Company, where he worked for seven years. He started off in talent development and within a year and a half was elevated to the role of deployment lead, HR transformation, Europe and Eurasia Africa Group.

    By 2010, he was looking after capability development for India and South West Asia. In this role, he was business partner to Coca-Cola’s 17 franchise bottling companies (with over 10,000employees) for India and South-West Asia business units. From 2012 to 2014, he was the talent and learning manager for Europe, Eurasia and Africa. By the time he moved on from Coca-Cola, he was looking after people strategy, global business services at the Company.

    September 2015 saw him at Indigo, as director – human resources. For the next three years, he served as the HR function head for the ground operations (including engineering, cargo, airport operations and customer service) for about 18,000 on- and off-roll employees across India and international markets.

    It was in 2018 that he joined Oyo as head – HR, international. About a year and a half into this role, he was promoted to the position of head – HR Weddingz.in and Mountania (luxury and upscale business). He spent a successful two years and ten months at Oyo, before moving to Vishal Mega Mart (Airplaza Retail Holdings), in May 2021.

    Expressing his delight on this new assignment at Graviton Research Capital, Banga posts on LinkedIn that he looks forward to building the high-frequency trading firm’s “distinctive innovative people strategy and designing world-class employee experience to accelerate progress towards achieving our mission”.
