Richard Lobo elevated as head HR, Infosys

A mechanical engineer from Manipal Institute of Technology, and an MBA from XIM, Lobo, joined Infosys in 2000.

Richard Lobo has been promoted as the head HR at Infosys, the second largest IT company in India. Until now, Lobo was heading the HR function for the company’s manufacturing and engineering services vertical.

Confirming the development to HRKatha, Lobo said, “Yes I have taken over as head-HR for Infosys and resumed my new responsibilities.”

Lobo, an alumnus of Xavier’s Institute of Management, and a mechanical engineer from Manipal Institute of Technology, joined Infosys in 2000.

Prior to that he was with Godrej & Boyce, where he was assistant manager – sales and marketing, responsible for sales in North India. He also managed the marketing activity including advertising, product management and brand building.

In March 2015, Infosys split the role of HR into two parts – strategy and operations to effectively manage its 1.8 lakh workforce. Following which, the global HR head at Infosys, Srikantan Moorthy was moved to a delivery function role in April.

When other IT majors are facing high attrition rates, Infosys has managed to keep it below 15 per cent in FY 2015-16.

  1. one more non HR moving to a HR role…which is an excellent move.Managing people is part of any function and when you represent a larger group, one needs to feel the pulse of the organisation, just like a marketing man gets to understand the pulse of the consumer.
And it is all the more rewarding when professionals like Lobo have given their unflinching commitment to the organisation over the last 15 years.
You rarely see HR professionals who stay long enough to demonstrate building their own careers to fellow professionals in the organisation
.Congratulations .Infosys for the bold move (They have done this before too ) and Lobo… for being a good champion of the people.
    best wishes
