Tata Motors has appointed Sitaram Kandi as its new vice president-HR CoEs, IR, skill development and CSR. Before making this move, Kandi served as director HR-global supply chain, South Asia, GE, for almost eight years.

Prior to his stint with GE, Kandi worked as group HR head at Mustafa Sultan Enterprises, a leading business group of the Sultanate of Oman, with 16 companies under it. For almost two years, he handled the entire HR function for the Group that had various business interests including retail, telecom, office automation, IT, electronics, military, lighting, money exchange, medical and so on.

Kandi’s expertise in establishing HR functions was also honed at Fourfront Management Solutions, where he even worked on business merger, relocation of manufacturing facility, as well as union negotiations and settlements for almost two years, from 2008 to 2010.

As HR lead-West Asia, Monsanto Company, for two years, Kandi got the opportunity to work with a global agri input company, with a strong research and development base.

From 2003 to 2006, essaying the role of senior manager, he handled all the HR activities of the Pune plant of TE Connectivity, with a 1000 strong workforce.

Having served as executive HR at Videocon for over a year in 1994-95, he gained considerable experience in handling HR functions of the after sales and services units, as well as the plant. He also got the opportunity to handle recruitments, appraisals, transfers, increments, promotions, as well as training and development.

An alumnus of IIM, Kolkata, Kandi has also studied labour laws and human resources at the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies. He is a graduate in mathematics, economics and statistics from Osmania University.
