Lumilens, a Bengaluru-based company developing photonic connectivity technologies for AI infrastructure, has named Deepa Subbaiah as its new global head-HR. In her new role, Subbaiah will focus on building the talent, leadership and culture needed to support Lumilens’ next phase of growth.
Announcing her move on LinkedIn, Subbaiah said she was joining Lumilens at a time when the company is developing next-generation photonic connectivity solutions for future AI infrastructure. She also highlighted the opportunity to work again with leaders and colleagues from her earlier tenure at Cisco.
Subbaiah joins Lumilens with more than 25 years of HR leadership experience across product, engineering, SaaS, technology, IT services and commercial organisations. Her experience spans strategic HR business partnering, organisational design, workforce planning, talent management, leadership development, compensation and benefits, DE&I, HR transformation, people analytics and employee experience across global and matrixed organisations.
Prior to joining Lumilens, Subbaiah served as CHRO at Locus.
Before that, she was the AVP & head HR – APAC & India at Amadeus, where she led the people agenda for more than 7,000 employees across APAC. She partnered with engineering, product, sales, customer experience and corporate leadership teams, while overseeing workforce strategy and the regional HR operating model. She also established HR centres of excellence covering talent, rewards, HR operations, analytics, DE&I and employer branding.
Before Amadeus, Subbaiah was senior director – HR, product & engineering at Freshworks, where she led HR strategy for more than 1,900 global product and engineering employees. Her responsibilities included workforce planning, succession management, leadership development, organisational restructuring, internal mobility and reskilling.
She previously spent nearly four years at Cisco as HR consultant (HRBP) – Engineering, supporting more than 5,500 engineering employees.
Subbaiah has also held the position of general manager – HR at 3M, where she led HR for the industrial, consumer and strategy businesses. Earlier, she spent more than four years at Wipro in various HR leadership roles.
Academically, Subbaiah holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (HR & Marketing) from Mount Carmel Institute of Management, Bengaluru, and a BSc in Microbiology, Zoology and Chemistry from Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru.
