Sonata Software, the global IT services and technology solutions company, has appointed Balaji Kumar as its chief human resources officer (CHRO). Kumar will be based out of the corporate office in Bangalore, and will be responsible for the HR function for the Company, globally.

Sami Dhir, whole-time director and CEO, Sonata Software, is confident that given “his rich experience”, Kumar will definitely “be able to drive our people strategy and vision, create the best-in-class capabilities to create success for our employees, attract top talent and continue to drive towards our core values”.

He hopes that Kumar will contribute significantly to the Company’s “next growth phase” and create “a Sonatian-experience where the employees can continue to excel, innovate and deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients.”

Sonata has been investing significantly in leadership talent to be able to better serve its valuable customers and employees, as well as fulfil its social objectives. With Kumar holding the reins of the HR, the Company hopes to be able to successfully deal with the challenges that come with high growth in a volatile and competitive environment.

In his professional journey, Kumar has worked with the likes of Microsoft, Citibank, Larsen & Toubro and Unilever, successfully essaying senior HR roles.

An alumnus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Kumar has effectively handled organisation development, employee engagement, talent management, and HR business partnering. He also possesses a master’s degree in law and has practised law earlier.

In his new assignment, Kumar himself is “looking forward to partnering with the team to help deliver a world-class experience to Sonatians”.
