    Sukamal Banerjee is now executive director & CEO, Cyient

    Banerjee moves from Xoriant where he was CEO since March 2023

    Sukamal Banerjee has accepted the role of executive director and chief executive officer (CEO), Cyient. He will head the digitial, engineering and technology (DET) business of the global intelligent engineering solutions company and be part of Cyient’s Board of Directors. He moves from Xoriant where he was CEO since March 2023.

    Backed by over 30 years of experience, Sukamal Banerjee began his professional journey with GeometricPLM, as R&D engineer, way back in 1992.

    Armed with an MBA in finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) in 1996, he joined HCL Technologies as senior management trainee. Less than two years into this role, he was elevated to business development manager, working out of Sunnyvale, California.

    Two years and eight months later, he was promoted to area manager/director business development. This role saw him working out of Bellevue, Washington. For the next six years he was responsible for the development of HCL’s business presence in Northwestern USA, across all service lines. Another promotion in October 2006 saw him moving to Redmond, Washington, as senior director, business development. He had the additional responsibility of driving regional focus on North Western USA and Western Canada.

    The year 2008 saw him elevated to associate vice president for two years after which he became vice president. From 2012 to 2015, he was senior vice president before becoming executive vice president in April of 2015.

    From 2016 to 2019, he served as corporate vice president, hi-tech and communications, BU head IoT WoRKS. Then he played corporate vice president, business unit head for two and a half years before being elevated yet again to corporate vice president, in 2022.

    It was in March 2023 that he moved from HCL after a successful tenure of almost 27 years. He joined Xoriant, a global digital engineering firm, as chief executive officer, based out of Greater Seattle Area.

    Now, at Cyient, Banerjee will put his skills in establishing and growing business lines and creating market-leading partnerships for global accounts to good use.

    MM Murugappan, chairman, Cyient, feels that Banerjee’s “experience and leadership in the ER&D and technology sector will help Cyient tremendously as we strengthen the organisation to deliver the next phase of accelerated growth.” He is sure that under Banerjee, “Cyient DET will be poised to be a leading technology-led intelligent engineering-solutions organisation delivering to the expectations of our clients, associates and shareholders.”

    Krishna Bodanapu, executive vice-chairman and managing director, Cyient, is looking forward to partnering with Banerjee “to deliver on our brand promise of ‘Designing Tomorrow Together’.”

    Sukamal Banerjee considers “leading a team of 16,000+ passionate Cyientists an honour and a responsibility” which he is glad to “embrace with commitment”. He is keen to “push boundaries, set new benchmarks, and elevate Cyient to reach newer heights and milestones.”
