Tata Sons reorganises Air India’s top management, Suresh Tripathi named CHRO

N Chandrasekhan, executive chairman, Air India and Tata Sons, has reorganised the senior management of Air India, which has now been taken over by Tata.

As per the changes, RS Sandhu has been reappointed as chief of operations, while yet another veteran leader, Vinod Hejmade, has been reappointed as chief financial officer (CFO)

As part of this major reshuffle, Nipun Aggarwal, who is senior vice president – Tata Sons, has now been assigned the role of chief commercial officer, while Suresh Dutt Tripathi, who was VP- HR at Tata Steel till last year, is the new chief human resources officer.

Aggarwal will take over the mantel from Meenakshi Malik, whereas Tripathi will step into the shoes of Amrita Sharan.

Tripathi is an experienced HR leader who carries more than three decades of experience in HR and IR. In the initial phase of his career, Tripathi joined Steel Authority Of India (SAIL) where he joined as a management trainee and ended up working for the PSU for over sixteen years. He served his last position as deputy chief personnel manager and went on to join HCL Perot (Now part of Dell), which was a joint venture of HCL and Perot Systems as head of HR and worked with the company for about two years. Tripathi also worked as a principal consultant working with Mascon Global for about an year and then moved on to join SRF as president HR.

In his more than 10 years of service at SRF, Tripathi took up the role of group president HR at SRF and was also the CEO for Shri Educare, part of the SRF foundation. It was in 2012, when he joined Tata Steel as VP-HR and lead HR operation for the Steel manufacturer for about eight years.

Meanwhile, Malik and Sharan are now advisors to Air India’s CEO, that is, currently, N. Chandrasekaran, till Tata Sons appoints someone.

Satya Ramaswamy, who was earlier associated with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is now chief digital and technology officer at Air India.

The role of head – customer experience and ground handling has been assigned to Rajesh Dogra.

Senior IAS officer, Vikram Dev Dutt, who was CMD, Air India, till the takeover happened, is now CMD of Air India Asset Holding (AIAHL).

In 2019, AIAHL was established by the Indian government to hold the debt and non-core assets of the Air India Group.
