Uber today announced the appointment of Divya Garg as head – HR for the India and South Asia (SA) region. Garg will be working closely with the India, South Asia leadership team to consolidate Uber’s growing presence in these strategic markets, and build a diverse and inclusive work culture.

Garg steps into the shoes of Neha Mathur, who has moved to the Urban Company as SVP-HR.

Garg has moved from Accenture, where she consulted in the talent and organisational consulting practice for many years, before joining the Company’s people team. She has a rich international experience and takes keen interest in furthering cutting-edge technology such as big data, AI, and automation as well as neuroscience within the realm of HR.

She is an alumna of Delhi College of Engineering and XLRI, Jamshedpur.

Prabhjeet Singh, president, Uber India South Asia, has immense confidence in Garg’s “exceptional track record and deep experience in building an inclusive work culture.” He says, “Uber’s employees are its most important asset, and Divya will play a critical role in their growth, as well as that of the company. She brings with her a demonstrated ability to foster a culture that values accomplishment and celebrates the employee experience. ”

Garg is ” thrilled to have been given the responsibility of shaping and nurturing Uber’s talent in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Uber’s mission is a powerful one, especially in a region like India SA, where we play a vital role in helping cities move safely and create earning opportunities for driver and delivery partners. This inspires a sense of purpose and belongingness in me. I look forward to being a part of the exciting Uber journey in the region, partnering with and learning from my colleagues and enabling the company to keep making a difference.”
