Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company, Macleods Pharmaceuticals suspended its medical representative, Riyaz Ahmed Wani, who called the Pulwama terrorist attack a ‘surgical strike’ on Facebook. The Company considered his remark on the attack rather insensitive.

The Company has also decided to show its support to the martyrs’ families by donating two lakh each to the families of the jawans who died in the attack.

The legal head of Macleods Pharmaceuticals issued a statement condemning the Pulwama attack and expressing grief at the loss of innocent lives. In the statement, the Company clarifies that it is a responsible organisation and one that will always support the country, its people and its jawans. In the statement it was conveyed that the employees of Macleods will personally visit each martyr’s family and hand over the cash and express their condolence.

In another incident, deputy news editor of the news channel, NDTV, was suspended for two weeks for her irresponsible remarks pertaining to the incident on Facebook.

In another incident, ICICI Bank is investigating a Facebook post that shows dogs eating the flesh of one of the killed jawans. The individual behind the post, who claims to be an employee of ICICI bank, has invited a lot of anger on social media. Clients of the Bank have personally demanded that the Bank sack the employee at once.
