The Industrial Training Department and Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE) have collaborated to organise the India Skills Kerala 2020. The event will see youngsters competing in a variety of vocational and non-vocational skills, at the district, zonal and state levels, with winners eligible for attractive cash prizes.

The portal and website for the 2020 edition has already been launched. While contestants competed in 20 skills in the earlier edition, this time, more skills related to information technology (IT) and other new technologies have been included, taking the number of skills up to 42. About 20 academic and 22 specialised skills have been included.

While the district-level competitions will be held from December 14 to 19, the zonal-level competitions will take place at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode from 10 to 15 January, 2020. The state-level competitions are scheduled to be held in the second week of February, at Swapna Nagari, Kozhikode.

The winners at the state level will be offered a chance to take part in the World Skills 2021 scheduled to be held at Shanghai, China.

Only those born on 1 January, 1996 or after, are eligible to participate in the cloud computing, cyber technology, IT network cabling and water technology-related competitions. For the rest of the skills, those born on 1 January, 1999 or after can compete.

Registrations are open only till 4 December, 2019. More information and details can be obtained from the official website, www.indiaskillskerala.com.
