    Leena Nair will join as Board member at British Telecommunications

    Leena Nair, CHRO, Unilever, will join as the non-executive director and member of the Remuneration Committee, the Nominations Committee and the Digital Impact & Sustainability Committee at British Telecommunication (BT). Nair’s joining will take effect from the end of BT’s annual general meeting on 10 July, 2019.

    Since 2016, Nair has been handling the global HR function at Unilever, which is one of the leading FMCG companies in the world. She has been leading the HR function for 1,60,000 employees at Unilever, and is also part of the Unilever leadership executive.

    Nair has worked with Unilever all her life and has served in various roles in the HR function, such as senior vice president for leadership and organisational development and global head of diversity; executive director of Hindustan Unilever; and vice president-HR, South Asia. She joined Unilever in 1992 as a management trainee.
    Commenting on her appointment, Nair says, “I am delighted to be invited to join the Board of BT, an iconic company. I am looking forward to making a contribution to shape the future of this exciting business in a dynamic sector.”

    Nair holds an MBA degree from XLRI and has completed her bachelor of engineering in electronics and telecommunication from Walchand College of Engineering.

    Welcoming Nair’s appointment, BT’s Chairman, Jan du Plessis, says, “We are delighted to welcome Leena to BT. She brings a deep understanding of the strategic and practical challenges of driving large-scale cultural transformation, making her an excellent addition to the Board.”
