Deutsche Bahn India — a subsidiary of Germany-based national railway company, Deutsche Bahn AG, headquartered in the Bahn Tower at Berlin — has appointed Muukesh Gupta as its HR head.

In this new role, Gupta will look after the HR function for the Company in India and will also be responsible for scaling up the talent pool and creating an inclusive, enriching and progressive work culture.

Gupta comes with vast experience of more than a decade in the HR space. Designing and executing the people strategy for building a delivery-focussed high-performance organisation are his forte.

Before joining Deutsche Bahn India, he worked with various companies on strategies, including high-volume hiring, culture building, employer and organisational branding, and career ladders across the board.

Known for his positive attitude and ability to motivate people, Gupta has served metro rolling stock manufacturing companies such as CRRC, Alstom, Bombardier and also Scomi in various senior management roles in HR.

Having started off as an HR/training specialist in 2010, with Scomi Engineering Mumbai Monorail, Gupta went on to serve as HRBP with Bombadier Transportation India from 2014 to 2018. For over four years, he handeld all HR activities and initiatives for Delhi Metro projects of Bombardier.

His next stop was Alstom Transportation Projects International where he joined as HR manager for a year and a half.

It was in 2020 that he moved to CRRC India as head – human resources department.

This graduate from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, holds an MBA in HR from Jaipur National University.

Rail-based transit systems in India are operated by public entities, with some work being given to private contractors. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) signed an agreement with DB India to operate and maintain the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor for 12 years. This is a step in the right direction to encouraging the participation of the private sector in regional rail and metro rail projects.
