    7,951 vacancies in Indian Railways; start applying on 30 July

    The online application process to fill 7,951 posts in the Indian Railways will begin tomorrow, that is, 30 July. The last date for application is 29 August, 2024.

    The vacancies are for the posts of junior engineers, depot material superintendents, chemical and metallurgical assistants, chemical supervisors (research) and metallurgical supervisors (research).

    Candidates in the age range of 18 to 36 may apply, provided they possess a degree or diploma in civil, electronics, electrical or telecommunication engineering.

    While general candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs 500, those belonging to the scheduled caste or scheduled tribe category or to the economically weaker sections need to pay only Rs 250. The application fee for women is also Rs 250.

    The basic salary of a junior engineer in the Indian Railway is Rs 35,400 per month, along with benefits and allowances. The initial basic pay of chemical supervisors (research) and metallurgical supervisors (research) would be Rs 44,900 plus allowances.

    Interested candidates my visit the RRB website for details and apply by filling out the application form. The candidates will have to appear for two stages of computer-based tests, which will be followed by document verification and medical examination of the selected candidates.

    Verification of eligibility conditions shall be conducted by RRB only after the candidates have cleared all the stages of the examination and make it to the document verification stage.
