After serving Biocon Biologics for over five years, Karthik SM has been appointed head HR-India, Malaysia, and emerging markets for Biocon.
Having obtained a degree in Electronics and Instrumentation, Karthik went on to completed an MBA in Human Resources Management before joining Ma Foi Randstad in 2003, as an HR executive (deputed to FICCI).
He then joined People First Consultants as a recruitment consultant for a while before taking up the role of senior executive-talent acquisition at Flextronics in June of 2005.
In 2006 he began a long association with Accenture, starting off as a candidate management lead. Just six months into this role he was elevated to enterprise recruitment lead (Manila, Philippines). Two years later, he was promoted to recruitment-delivery lead (Chennai, Bangalore). From 2006 to 2015 he was associate vice president-recruitment, setting up recruiting operations in two countries. For the next nine years he successfully drove change, innovation and new growth, leading a team of over 80 recruiters. He also set up a pharma recruiting practice in Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore in 2007.
After over nine years with Accenture, Karthik moved to IQVIA in 2015, as head of talent acquisition, South Asia, for over five years.
It was in July of 2020 that he came to be associated with Biocon Biologics, as global head of talent acquisition. Over four years into this role he was elevated to HR head, global operations and enabling.
Now, in his latest role at Biocon, in addition to transforming talent, Karthik will lead the human-capital strategy and HR operations across key geographies, and also take care of employee engagement, and organisational effectiveness.
