Amit Abhay Brahme, a 48 year old IT engineer at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Pune, died by suicide at his home on 2 June, 2026. Police reportedly recovered a two page note in which he accused two senior colleagues, Archana and Shashwati, of harassment, and a friend, Vinod Palicha, of filing false complaints to damage his reputation.
In the note, Brahme claimed that good projects were taken away from him and replaced with extremely difficult tasks that could not be completed on time. He described repeated humiliation in front of colleagues and constant pressure to resign. The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the three employees named, though no arrests have been made.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudhakar Yadav confirmed that investigators are examining both technical and corporate aspects of the case.
The incident has drawn attention from the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), a registered IT trade union in Maharashtra. The Senate has appealed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to review safeguards for employee well being and workplace grievance mechanisms. They highlighted that this was the second death of a TCS employee in Pune within months, following the January death of 24 year old Sujal Vinod Oswal at the Hinjewadi campus.
NITES stressed that these tragedies cannot be treated as routine and reflect deeper concerns about workplace stress and harassment in the IT sector.
The case was registered at Bhosari police station, Pimpri-Chinchwad following a complaint filed by Brahme son. Investigations are reportedly still on.
