    Tata Asset Management announces top leadership changes to drive next phase of growth

    Anand Vardarajan named CEO & MD, Hemant Kumar takes over as chief business officer

    Tata Asset Management (TAMPL), the investment manager for Tata Mutual Fund, has announced key leadership changes aimed at ensuring continuity, robust governance, and sustained growth.

    Prathit Bhobe has stepped down as chief executive officer and managing director, effective from 7 July, 2026. The Board thanked him for his contributions during his tenure and extended best wishes for his future endeavours.

    Anand Vardarajan will take charge as CEO and managing director (MD) from 10 July, 2026. He has been part of Tata Asset Management’s leadership since 2018, most recently serving as chief business officer. With more than 24 years across banking, wealth management, and financial services, Vardarajan has been instrumental in scaling the company’s business. Before joining TAMPL, he held senior positions at ICICI Bank and Citibank.

    In a parallel move, Hemant Kumar has been elevated to chief business officer. In this role, he will lead retail, institutional, product, alliances, and digital and data functions. Kumar has over 21 years of experience in banking and financial services. He previously served as chief distribution and digital officer at Tata Asset Management, where he spearheaded distribution and digital initiatives.

    Commenting on the transition, Rajiv Sabharwal, chairman,Tata Asset Management, announced that these appointments underscore the depth of their leadership pipeline and focus on nurturing internal talent. Anand brings strong business acumen and leadership experience, while Hemant has a proven record in driving distribution and growth and together they can position them well for the future. He also thanked Prathit for his leadership and wished him success ahead.

    The leadership changes are designed to ensure a smooth transition while reinforcing Tata Asset Management’s commitment to long-term investor value and high standards of governance.

    Founded in 1994, Tata Asset Management manages Tata Mutual Fund. It is among India’s oldest mutual fund houses with a unique folio base of over 90 lakhs as of 30 June, 2026.
